Privacy Policy

How Proxy collects, uses and protects personal information, written to be read. Effective October 7, 2026.

The Short Version

  • We do not sell your information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
  • No ad trackers. This website runs no advertising pixels, no analytics cookies and no cross-site tracking.
  • We collect what the work needs. What you send us, what it takes to run your account, and the basic technical data every website receives.
  • Your customers' data is yours. When we host your site or send your email, we handle your customers' information on your behalf and only to provide the service.

Questions about any of this go to hello@madebyproxy.com.

1. Who We Are and What This Covers

"Proxy", "we" and "us" mean Proxy LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company. This policy covers the personal information we handle when you visit madebyproxy.com, use the Proxy Portal at portal.madebyproxy.com, book a call, place an order, or work with us on a project.

It does not cover the websites we build for our clients. Each of those sites has its own owner and its own privacy policy. Section 8 explains how we handle information on our clients' behalf.

This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service. The terms are our agreement with clients. This policy explains how personal information moves.

2. Information You Give Us

Most of what we hold, you handed to us.

  • Inquiries and quotes. Your name, email address, company, website address, and whatever you tell us about your project when you fill in a contact or quote form.
  • Bookings. Your name, email address, the time you pick, and any notes you add when you book a call.
  • Orders. Your contact details, your business details, and what you are ordering when you use our order form.
  • Your account. Your name, email address, password, and the business details you add, such as a legal name, a billing address and a billing contact. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, never as plain text.
  • Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number goes straight to Stripe and never touches our servers. We receive confirmation that a payment went through.
  • Project content. The files, copy, images, feedback and messages you send us or upload to the Portal.
  • Support and chat. Your support tickets and chat messages, including anything you share in them.
  • Agreements. When you sign an agreement in the Portal, we record your name, the time you signed, and your IP address and browser, so the signature can be verified later.
  • Prompts. What you type into BERT and our other AI features, and the content those requests work on.
  • Notes. If you leave a note with Gizmonote, our point-and-comment tool, we store the note, the page it is on, your screen size and device type, and any image you attach.

3. Information Collected Automatically

Some information arrives on its own, the way it does for every website.

  • Technical data. When you load a page, our hosting providers receive your IP address, your browser type, the page you asked for and the time. It is used to deliver the page, keep the service secure and stop abuse.
  • Bot protection. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. It checks your browser in the background instead of asking you to solve a puzzle.
  • Abuse limits. We use the IP address a form submission comes from to limit how many submissions one source can send.
  • Email engagement. Emails we send from the Portal record when they are opened and which links are clicked, using a tiny image and tracked links. Turning off images in your email app blocks the open tracking.
  • Notifications. If you turn on push notifications in the Portal, we store your device's notification address and browser name so we can reach that device.

We do not run analytics, advertising pixels or session recording on madebyproxy.com.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

madebyproxy.com does not set cookies of its own. Cloudflare, which carries our traffic and protects our forms, may set short-lived security cookies to tell people from bots.

The Portal uses one essential cookie to keep you signed in, and our public BERT demo uses a similar session cookie. Both are needed for the service to work, so they cannot be switched off.

Some pages save small preferences in your browser's local storage, such as a hint you dismissed or your Gizmonote settings. That stays on your device.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Because we do not track you across sites, browser "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals are honored by default.

5. How We Use Information

  • To answer your questions, prepare quotes and set up the calls you book.
  • To deliver what you buy: building, hosting and supporting your sites and your account.
  • To bill you and keep the records the law requires.
  • To send service messages, such as receipts, project updates, security notices and account changes.
  • To send follow-up and marketing emails after you contact us or sign up. Every one has an unsubscribe link.
  • To run the AI features you ask for. See section 6.
  • To keep the services secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems.
  • To meet our legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Legal bases. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and securing our business and in following up with people who contact us, your consent where we ask for it, and compliance with the law.

6. AI Features

BERT and our other AI features run on a third party model provider, currently Anthropic. When you use them, your prompt and the content it works on are sent to that provider to generate a response.

We do not sell that content, and we do not authorize its use to train models. Our provider's commercial terms do not allow it to train its models on what we send. Even so, treat a prompt like an email and leave out anything sensitive you do not need to include.

7. Who We Share It With

We share personal information with the companies that help us run the services, and only what each one needs to do its job. Each handles it under its own data protection terms.

  • Cloudflare hosts our websites and our clients' sites, stores files, runs our network and DNS, and provides bot protection.
  • Hetzner Online runs the servers and database behind the Proxy Portal.
  • Amazon Web Services delivers the emails we send.
  • Stripe processes payments.
  • Anthropic provides the AI model behind BERT and our other AI features.
  • Daily powers video calls in the Portal.
  • GitHub stores the source code of the sites we build.
  • Google measures site speed, provides Search Console data when you connect it, and supplies site icons. Some pages also load fonts from Google Fonts.
  • DataForSEO supplies search data for our SEO programs. We send it keywords and website addresses, not personal information.
  • OpenStreetMap suggests matching addresses when you type one into the Portal.
  • Public code libraries, such as cdnjs and the Tailwind CDN, deliver code to a few of our pages and receive your browser's request the way any website does.

We may also share information with professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants, when the law requires it, to protect the rights, property or safety of Proxy, our clients or others, and as part of a merger, sale or similar change to our business, in which case this policy continues to apply.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.

8. Information We Handle for Our Clients

When we host a client's site or run its tools, we handle information about that client's own customers: people who visit the site, fill in its forms, book its appointments or receive its emails. That information belongs to our client.

Our client decides what is collected and why, and we process it on their behalf, only to provide the service. The client's own privacy policy applies. If you want to see, change or delete information a Proxy client holds about you, contact that business directly. We will help them respond.

Some choices sit with the client. A client can, for example, add an analytics service such as Google Analytics to their own site.

9. Where Your Information Is Stored

Proxy is based in the United States. The Portal's servers are in Germany, and most of our other providers operate in the United States and around the world. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own.

Where the law requires a safeguard for transfers out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on our providers' data processing terms, which include the standard contractual clauses approved for that purpose.

10. How Long We Keep It

  • Inquiries and leads. While we are talking about working together, and until you ask us to delete them.
  • Accounts. For as long as your account is open. After you cancel, you have 30 days to request an export. After that we may delete your data from our live systems, and backups age out on their normal schedule.
  • Billing records. For as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Signed agreements. For as long as the agreement could matter, so the signature can still be verified.
  • Unsubscribes. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we never email you again by mistake.
  • Demo notes. Notes left in the Gizmonote demo on our home page are deleted automatically about four hours after the last note.

11. How We Protect It

Every page we serve uses HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Each client account is kept separate from every other account, and access to client data is limited to the people who need it to do their job.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you as the law requires.

12. Your Choices and Rights

Wherever you live, you can:

  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails with the link at the bottom of any of them.
  • Update your details in the Portal, or ask us to.
  • Turn off push notifications in your browser or device settings.
  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it.

Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights, such as receiving your information in a portable format, objecting to or restricting certain uses, and withdrawing consent. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom you can also complain to your local data protection authority. Some US states give similar rights, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share it, so there is nothing to opt out of, and we will never treat you differently for exercising a right.

To make a request, email hello@madebyproxy.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within the time the law allows. You can use an authorized agent, who will need to show us your permission. We may keep information the law requires us to keep, even after a deletion request.

13. Children

Our services are for businesses and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our services change. The date at the top always shows the current version. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell account holders by email or in the Portal before it takes effect.
